Unhappy Zip Codes

For all the talk of the overheated real estate markets in places like California and Florida, CNNMoney's list of the top 500 foreclosure zip codes is littered with rust belt locations, including Detroit and Flint. Overall, Michigan has 34 zip codes in the list. Detroit has four in the top ten. And 48504 — my old zip code encompassing Bassett Park — has the most foreclosures in Flint.

  1. I too come from the 04. I am suprised to see they are number 1 in the area, I figured it would be 05

  2. After numerous deals fell through, my mom was finally able to sell our sold our house across from Bassett Park for about $8,000, which seemed like small change for a four-bedroom house. Now it seems like we did okay, given the current real estate market in Flint.

  3. Wow! 8 grand. My mom also is in 48504, living across from Kettering University (formerly GMI). the house must be over 80 years old, so I don't suppose it will sell for much. Maybe being so near the university it will sell for a grand or two more...my dad moved into the house when he was 8 in 1927. Mott Park Neighborhood.
