Flint Postcards: Flint from the Air

An aerial shot of Flint before I.M.A. disappeared and the bland brick buildings of UM-Flint arrived. It's tough to see, but note the photo credit on the postcard: Flint Police Dept.

  1. In a previous post dated September, 2010, there was a discussion relative to the question of where the old Athletic Park was located. If anyone is still interested, a portion of it can be seen in the extreme upper left corner of this post card. In that same post is a comment relating to the recently posted photo of the old high school, and a link in another of the comments showing an aerial view of the location of that building relative to the downtown area.

You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.
