Flint Photos: Riding for the Tigers

Joyce Mason, a student at Flint Junior College, pledged to ride this ferris wheel in July of 1959 until the Detroit Tigers reached 1st place in the American League or the park shut down for Labor Day. Not sure how it all turned out. Anyone know?

Most unfortunate,she was well into september when that freakish heat lightning hit the wheel.Sad to see a true fan snuffed that quick.

The highest position in the American League by the Detroit Tigers in 1959 was 1 1/2 games out. They never played better than .500 ball and were 65-65 on Aug 30. They finished 2 games under .500 for the season and were on a second manager for the majority of the summer. So if the park closed on Labor day, she wasn't there for the "lightening strike". And JP is a fake account, set up just to post that stupidity.

She was a friend of mine in the 60s. She rode the Ferris Wheel until the park closed. She held a world record for Ferris Wheel riding at one point. I have been searching for her for years. She was a great friend and loads of fun.
