At the time, I was a music writer at the late and unlamented Flint Journal, so it was strictly business.

One night he had some pissed-off Flushing kids playing live in studio, thrashing their guts out to what to me sounded suspiciously like the Stabat Mater. They were good and I was glad to be there. Mostly, Ben and I just talked.

In that time, he convinced me of a couple of things ... D. Boon was a genius and Ben wasn't far behind.

From the Department of Useless Information ... the "Out for Trout" cap Michael Moore wore in Roger & Me was swiped from Ben's head. His lid, not Mike's.

I always thought Ben should have demanded it back and put it on eBay for charity. I think I once expressed that opinion to Michael ... maybe that's why he doesn't speak to me anymore.

c'est la hollywood

or somethihgdougnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3244123422713926575.post-68525154744548848662009-07-16T21:32:01.293-07:002009-07-16T21:32:01.293-07:00What a cool posting Gordon! The last time I saw Ben was at a Ramones concert in Pontiac. Ben was with a mutual friend, Devon.
I have some live music on tapes that you may want to hear Ben. (for your site) It is of Political Silence and House of Mirth. Both of them I frequently went to see at hall shows in the 80's.

You can contact me at roadsidedinerlover@yahoo.com

RoadsideDinerLoverAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3244123422713926575.post-19786406516990617102009-07-16T20:51:20.040-07:002009-07-16T20:51:20.040-07:00I've often wondered where in the Civic Park ne...I've often wondered where in the Civic Park neighborhood would one procure pony kegs of Blatz back in the day.Würstside Warlørdnoreply@blogger.com
