I remember going to the Farmers' Market as a kid. It was near the Red Cross building, which always freaked me out, for some reason. I thought I was going to be bled against my will...

The great thing about the Farmer's Market is that you can go there with anyone, your parents, your kids, your new friend, your old friends and etc. I miss it still. Where I live now the Farmers' Market will sell you a $5 tomato, chocolate for $50 a pound.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the north end, on Westmoreland Ave, a stone's throw from Maurice Olk/Donovan North/St. Agnes/Dukette. Anyway, does anybody remember a guy (farmer) who would drive around in an old school bus and peddle his fruits and vegetables from the bus? I seem to remember the bus was blue for some reason.

ReplyDeleteI remember him!! My brother says he is still around that neighborhood peddling his produce. I don't think it is the same man though. Maybe it is his son or grandson now. The last time I saw him was back in the 60's and I snitched a grape and he yelled at me. I had to penance at St Agnes Church at Mass!
