You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.

I like the quote, "There were too many of you out there who refused to forget that performance is more than pinstripes and fancy wheel covers." Apparently, none of the automakers cared that much, because there are still 'sport' editions that are just that. I do dig the Monza, though.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom's went for 120,000 miles before she sold it. Not bad for a 1977!
ReplyDelete"more than pinstripes..."
ReplyDeleteYep-Big spider decals, and cheap, ill-fitting plastic too.
Chevy Monza Spyder...'if you're still reading this, then it's for you!"
Anyone else see this as ironic ad copy?
