Thanks for commenting. I moderate comments, so it may take a while for your comment to appear. You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.

I love this thing. Where can I get one?
ReplyDeleteI spotted this on eBay after searching for "Flint Michigan." Not sure if it's still up or not. I wouldn't mind having one myself.
ReplyDeleteJimmie Goodwin was my Grandfather. Spent my early years (50's and 60's) as a small boy at the Tire Mart with my Dad and his father. I have one of these ash trays as a momento.

Tom, thanks for the comment. I remember driving by the tire shop many times. And that ashtray is the greatest business promotion items I've ever seen. Feel free to chime in with any thoughts or memories of the shop.
ReplyDeleteHot Cocoa and donuts after the Citizens Bank Christmas Sing … The smell of new tires stakes me right back there!
