Charter One has wanted the Citizens Bank name to go away for several years. I suspect that they got what they wanted. Wonder if that had anything to do with it. In any event, Charter One will most likely become Citizens Bank now in Michigan.
What will happen to The Weatherball?
(holding my breath about the weatherball...)
I don't know what would be worst, losing the weather ball or having the initials on the weather ball changed to "FM". Whoever owns the building after FirstMerit dumps it (and they will) will have the ultimate decision. If Bob Perani was still with us I'm sure it would have ended up in the Dort Mall.
Thanks for commenting. You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.
