Flint Artifacts: G.M.I. Sweatshirt

  1. Sweet! I have been looking for old GMI apparel lately, but haven't come across anything yet. I attended Kettering from '07-'14, and there were at least a couple of us who thought that "GMI" was a cooler sounding name.

  2. GMI/Kettering was/is the ultimate nerd school. Neighborhoodies used to steal THEIR candy on Hallowe'en. They'd open the doors of those frat houses on Dupont and Sunset only to have some bad ass Hood steal their entire bowl.

You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.
