You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.

I've never been in those buildings, but those buildings have always inspired me. I hope they are here to stay.
ReplyDeleteReally? They always prompted me to think, "I need to learn to sign." And, distracted by my new environment(s), I never did.
ReplyDeleteI know--it's weird, Sarah. But they look to me like a prime location for a future "Ghost Hunters" episode.
ReplyDeleteI always found the Michigan School for the Deaf and its grounds so fascinating, and I wanted to go inside but never did. Nice postcards!
ReplyDeleteI love big piles of buildings like that, but I do agree about the Ghost Hunters ... good stuff!
