Flint Photos: A Block of W. Dayton Avenue
Thanks for commenting. You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.

I used to live on Lawndale just off Dayton. The housr isn't there anymore. I sold it in 1978 before things got bad.ReplyDelete
I lived at the house pictured above - 1102 W. Dayton Street in the early 70's. I was approximately 5 and attended Civic Park Elementary for 2 years. I had Miss. Keel as my kindergarten teacher. Mr. Larson was the principle. The house still looks good, especially compared to the property around it.ReplyDelete
