Shabby Chic

While Flint fights urban blight, Atlanta architects David Yocum and Brian Bell use it as decoration. Must be nice to have the option.

  1. i'm not sure what you mean by 'option'. looks like they took an abandoned building in a run down part of town (which exist in all towns, including flint) and found a good use for it. flint could use more of these types of interventions. it is happening in detroit.

  2. Agreed...Flint should take advantage of what it has. I think this project is great. I just meant that Atlanta has an economy that gives people the option of converting abandoned buildings like this one into thriving businesses. Right now, Flint just has the abandoned buildings.

  3. I like the idea I heard on NPR about demolishing abandoned homes and selling them to the adjorning neighbor to use as a garden. Sure would be a hell of alot of tomatos...
