Hell yeah, that is just about as "Flint" as it gets.
Wow! That's a terrific photo. I've been inside that building a time or two back in the middle 90s. I wonder if it is still in business. It reminds me that there are so many other great hidden photo gems of Flint which only a handful of people have ever seen and that have yet to be rediscovered, scanned and posted for a larger audience. I'd like to see an annual installment of Guess-where-in-Flint-this-photo-was-taken collection.
I was a patrol boy on that corner about 1946 or'47
Thanks for commenting. You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.
