Rhythm of Life

I was feeling a little depressed over the realization that the once-mighty AC Spark Plug — workplace of Crowbar Charlie Koziol, my mom (however briefly) and thousands of others — had been reduced to several discrete piles of rubble. Then I watched this and I felt a little better. Maybe it will help you, too. (It's best played loud.)

Now, does this have anything to do with Flint? Not really, but legend has it that Sammy Davis Jr. once stopped in at The Golden Leaf.

  1. Bob Fosse sure knew how to bring it, didn't he? Saw this at the Palace on Kearsley after sneaking in my Kewpie and Fries. I still have the ticket stubs (actually still have the stubs to every event I ever attended-ephemera not trash)

  2. Not to dis Sammy, but howzabout some MC Breed or Top Authority? The videos for "Ain't No Future In Your Frontin" and "Ain't To be Flexed With" always bring a smile to my face AND contain alotta classic Flint footage.

You might enjoy my book about Flint called "Teardown: Memoir of a Vanishing City," a Michigan Notable Book for 2014 and a finalist for the 33rd Annual Northern California Book Award for Creative NonFiction. Filmmaker Michael Moore described Teardown as "a brilliant chronicle of the Mad Maxization of a once-great American city." More information about Teardown is available at www.teardownbook.com.
